TENDER DOCUMENTS

The phrase “tender documents” refer to the enquiry documents issued by the employer to the tenderer to procure from the latter a firm offer for the scope of works as included in the documents furnished (Harbans singh, 2002). There are two distinct sets of documents being prepared, namely:

i) Tender Table Documents, and
ii) Tender Documents

Of the two, only the tender documents are actually issued to the tenderers. These give merely the essential information to the prospective tenderers as compared to the tender table documents. The tender table documents are prepared for display at a specific locality (normally at the office issuing the documents) where these may be inspected by interested tenderers. The latter constitute the complete tender documents for the project involved and usually comprise additional information such as samples of the letter of acceptance, bank guarantee for performance bond, articles of agreement, conditions of contract, etc.
